Construction on the child care centre in La Salle to commence September 2017

The LSCU Complex and La Salle Kidz Inc. are pleased to announce the start of construction on the new child care centre for La Salle, Manitoba. Winnpro Construction Ltd. is set to commence construction in September 2017, with a projected opening by March 31, 2018 (pending final design and construction approvals).

The new government-funded, not-for-profit centre will offer up to 60 licensed child care spaces, including 12 spaces for infants aged three months to two years and 48 spaces for preschool children aged two to six years. Upon opening, the centre will provide child care Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm. The centre will be closed weekends and all statutory holidays. Located in the same building as the La Salle Curling Club, the child care centre will be a welcome addition to the LSCU Complex and the services it provides to the community.
"We look forward to adding a full-time child care centre to the list of services available in La Salle," offered David Brown, LSCU Complex*s board president.

"The Board and I are very excited to see this next step of the project get started," stated Jennifer Penner, board president for La Salle Kidz Inc. "Countless volunteers have been working to get a child care centre operating in the community for nearly ten years. Most of our kids have outgrown the need for all-day care, but the centre will be here for the next generation."

As construction begins, the Board will continue preparing for the centre's opening.  A Facebook page (La Salle Kidz Daycare Centre) has been setup to keep the community up-to-date on progress. Once the centre is added to the Manitoba government's online childcare registry, a link will be added to the Facebook page as well as on the LSCU Complex's website so that parents and caregivers can add their child(ren)'s name(s) to the waitlist. In addition, La Salle Kidz Inc. will be launching a brand new website in the coming months.

As previously announced in June of 2015, the LSCU Complex and La Salle Kidz Inc. successfully acquired a grant of up to $299,000 from the Manitoba Government. On March 9, 2017, Manitoba*s new government reaffirmed its commitment to this newly proposed child care centre.

The total project is estimated to cost up to $900,000 and will adhere to Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care's building standards.

La Salle Kidz Inc. is now available on the Government of Manitoba's Online Child Care Registry. Please note: Though children can now be added to the centre's waitlist, administrators for La Salle Kidz Inc. Daycare will not have access to the waitlist until two months before the centre’s opening date. Please visit to register and add your child(ren)’s name(s) to the waitlist.
