La Salle Residents Invited to Comment
on the La Salle Community Vision and Secondary Plan

Local residents can view and comment on a community vision and secondary plan that, when finalized, will help guide La Salle*s growth.

Landmark Planning and Design held a public workshop in La Salle on October 25th to encourage public discussion on development issues such as land use, housing, infrastructure, recreation, economic development, and demographic and population trends.  Macdonald reeve Brad Erb said about 50 people attended. "There was some good discussion."

Included in the presentation is information on La Salle's approximately 5.7 per cent growth rate between 2011 and 2016 that brought the population to 2,069. A population graphic shows that there are considerably fewer residents in the 25 to 29 year age range and the over 70 year category. Almost all of La Salle's 635 homes are single-detached.

Erb said that the workshop is just the start of developing and approving a secondary plan for La Salle and there is likely to be more public consultation.

"The (RM of Macdonald) council doesn't want to rush the process," he said.

Residents are encouraged to view the presentation and send in comments.

"We would love to get feedback," Erb said.

He doesn't expect the secondary plan to be finalized until 2018.
