The Macdonald Healthy Child committee is a network of volunteers dedicated to supporting community based programs and activities for children, youth and their families. Areas of focus include:

  • Parenting
  • Nutrition & Physical Health
  • Literacy
  • Community Capacity Building

Macdonald Healthy Child programs are offered free of charge due to funding support from the Healthy Child Coalition Central Region and are a great way to have fun with your child. Program planning is ongoing, please let us know if there is a program you would like in your community. Some of the programs offered are "Shake, Rattle & Roll, Nobody's Perfect, Wiggle, Giggle & Munch and Kids in the Kitchen." Donations to the program are gratefully accepted.

Macdonald Healthy Child introduced the "Seeds of Empathy" program at Oak Bluff Early Years in Fall 2012. Seeds of Empathy fosters social and emotional competence and early literacy skills in children 3-5 years old.

Make sure to check out the current Healthy Child programs in the Macdonald-Headingley Recreation District Program & Community Resource Guide.

If you'd like more information on Macdonald Healthy Child, are interested in volunteering or becoming a program facilitator, please contact any committee member.
